Empowering Dialogue and Participation: radicalGAME Local Activities in Spain

Over the past months, radicalGAME has come to life across Spain through a series of dynamic and engaging local activities. The aim? To open spaces for reflection, dialogue and action among youth workers and young people around themes such as discrimination, radicalisation and civic participation.

Capacity Building for Youth Practitioners
We kicked things off with a capacity-building session delivered online to youth workers, educators and community practitioners in April. The session provided an introduction to the radicalGAME project and its learning resources, exploring how the game and its scenarios can be used to facilitate conversations with young people on sensitive social topics. Participants left feeling more confident in using the radicalGAME resources in their everyday practice.

Youth Workshops: Online and In-Person
In May, we delivered a series of youth workshops in schools, VET centres and youth clubs in Valencia. Using the radicalGAME card-based learning tool, we engaged over 70 young people – both online and in person – aged between 14 and 25. Through playful yet thought-provoking game scenarios, participants reflected on everyday issues such as discrimination in education and sports, climate injustice and barriers to civic engagement.

These sessions became a space not only for learning, but for connection and empowerment, as young people were encouraged to think critically, share their perspectives and propose their own solutions to real-world challenges.

What’s Next?
The reflections gathered from these local activities are being used to inform radicalGAME’s final recommendations guide, and some of the young participants will be joining our upcoming celebration event in Valencia in October 2025.

We’re incredibly proud of the engagement and enthusiasm shown by youth and professionals in Spain – and we can’t wait to share more stories from the radicalGAME community.
